I have considered this carefully and from a midwifery perspective the woman is still entitled to the services of a midwife, if she is able to find one willing to provide her care.
If she really wanted to be in control of her birth experience she would have chosen a home birth, but I have heard that there are medical reasons for the birth to take place in a hospital. I don’t think she really comprehends what the birth will be like and all plans could well go out the window when she is faced with nature’s unpredictability.
From the baby’s perspective I would not like to have my birth filmed and included in a porn movie. What a lifelong stigma to carry around. However, this does not necessarily make “Nicky” an unfit mother. Babies are not given choices and we rely on the parents to make sensible choices for their offspring. Is circumcision a sensible choice?
As you can see I am procrastinating. I can’t focus on anything, but need to get back to my assignment.
