So sad to say that I can’t afford ADSL and am back to dialup. Such a sorry state of affairs, but the only way I can sensibly continue to afford an internet connection.

“Many people have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” –Helen Keller
So I’m not happy because I’m floundering in my own misery?

“May we never let the things we can’t have, or don’t have, or shouldn’t have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have.” –Richard L. Evans
Supermarket shopping today the kids spotted this card and wanted to buy it for their Dad.
I love this quote in a personal capacity and as a midwife:
>
Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.
Seneca (B.C. 3-65 A.D.)

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.” –Helen Adams Keller
Discussions I have had with many people all relate that separation and divorce is worse than a spouse dying. Mainly because death is final and with a live spouse there is always the possibility or hope that the spouse might return and you also have to cope with seeing them and knowing that they don’t want to be with you and the kids. The last thought I had last night was that the Drin I knew and loved is dead and I have to deal with this new Drin. I don’t know if this is exactly a healthy way of thinking about things, but it certainly is helping at the moment.
To cope with everything I am making sure that me and the kids do a bit of FLYing to keep the house and our lives in order. One of the messages in my email today was about hugging myself. This made me feel sad, but also resolute that now is an important time to take care of myself. It would be easier if we had enough money to pay for groceries before Tuesday next week…
I lost my ICQ contacts on Trillian. Had to track down my Buddy list and put it back on. Didn’t like not being able to see when my friends are online.
I must remember not to do silly things like change an account name in WebHost Manager which then affects all the working scripts and SQL databases.
I have my new computer. It is absolutely fabulous apart from me following some instructions in the box about overclocking. I assumed that if it was in the box then it must be okay. I did get a feeling I was flirting with danger, and a quick trip back to the shop was the result. Now if only I could figure out why the floppy drive isn’t cooperating…
I felt like I need to have a huge RANT about phpManager. I forked out the $$ in January and it has never done what was promised and integrated with WHM. I have been trying out other products, but phpManager cost me enough and I want it to work…NOW! I have 2 hosting clients I have held off on charging, and a new one to set up. RANT, RANT, RANT………
A new computer will be arriving for me in a week or so. I won’t do the happy dance until it gets here. It is an Athlon 2800 and will be boasting 512MB RAM.
I am having difficulty with the RingSurf ring checker. I am having to check sites manually. I think it’s about time I installed my own ring script…
It’s been a while. I’m using NetCaptor for my browser at the moment and hadn’t made sure my blogging link was working. Now it is!
I have my Psion back and it is such a relief. I was really hoping thay it wasn’t economic to fix it and I could get a Clie. […]
I will have to change the Psion-ised category name and just call it Gadgets. I am a self-declared gadget freak. I have just bought a new T68i cellphone and am having fun putting it through it’s paces with the Bluetooth headset.

I’ve graduated officially and have the certificate to prove it. What a blast catching up with my classmates and revelling in being off-call! Don’t ask for photos…because I definitely consider them to be ghastly “before” shots
The Register has an article about our Government forking out $1million for NewZealand.com so in light of our 4 million people that makes it at cost of 25 cents per person. No point stating my .02 cents worth…it’s already cost me :disgust:
I had a wonderful normal birth over the weekend. The kind that restores your faith in midwifery. I have also been working on my midwifery site: NZMIDWIFE.NET.
Coppermine Photo Gallery - A PHP Image Gallery Script looks wonderful. Do I dare onsider changing? Does someone want me to test it out by installing it on your site? Contessa?
I still have that sensitive “hung over” feeling in my head, but at least I can think straight and don’t have to worry about swirling vertigo.
I have enjoyed some of the time over the weekend working on my site. I need to get MT installed again on my midwifery site. Plenty of site stuff to do as always and never enough time.
Google Search: bitch test has me at #17 and #21. That’s hilarious…and I only got 43% bitchy
I keep getting comments about my TheSpark.com’s Bitch Test!, even though I did it in January 2002. How do people keep finding it? Or does it come up in search engines or something??
It has been a long day and night with an induction that was very slow. Some of the delay was my fault and some the hospital’s. The woman ended up with a caesarean section at 5cm dilated. I deperately need more sleep…
I just had an inspiration. We should have an internet Random Rings day. I was just thinking of all the wonderful sites in the web rings I belong to that I haven’t visited.
As you can see I’m seriously busy and being incredibly silly and getting nothing done in no time at all. Actually I haven’t been on the computer much in the past week.
I got this quote in my mail:
>
“No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.”
>
“Rejections are footprints in our journey to success. Without them, we do not move ahead.” – Linda Windsor
“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.”
“What you do every day should contribute to giving your life meaning. If it doesn’t, why are you doing it?” –Don Hutcheson
Split the atom’s heart, and lo!
Within it thou wilt find a sun.

XRATED warning: I just had to post a link I found at jozjozjoz’s blog to a girlie romp. I’m quite a prude, but this sure is classic! Must be the week for it. One of the online groups I belong to sent a drooly hunk link
Two babies in two days. Sure has been busy. The first was a 20 hour marathon. The second involved an ambulance ride with a woman who has her babies early and fast. I really need to catch up on sleep, but that will have to wait.
I’ve just figured out why I was having blog problems and gallery problems. It’s the lovely Fantastico installer on my cPanel. They are wonderful if you want to set up one of the programs…however, if you set up something else with the same name, spot an installed proggy in Fantastico and uninstall it, and then find that you’ve zapped your wonderful program you took ages to install.
I’ve just zapped my gallery install
I have it back. What a mission! Lots of other areas of my site are back, and I’m looking at reaming through the lot and updating. In the process I have learnt how to do an SQL dump and import. Simple to most folks probably, but something new for me.
I am fed up with the site down time and I am sure the friends I host are fed up as well. So I have the joy of a server move to a new provider  I have no idea what the easy way is to do this… so wish me luck.

A quick update. Happy New Year all!
Already working. Midwifery business getting set up. 3 babies in 3 days and time for a breather from this holiday madness hopefully this weekend. Plenty of stuff to do!
