This horoscope is a little too close for comfort.

You are a good person enjoy the day, forget the diet and the ex. There’s a life out there waiting for You!

Unemployment

3.8 percent of the workforce was jobless in September. It’s got to be a good thing for the country!

STUFF : NATIONAL NEWS - DPB

So this is the “story". 23,160 women currently on the DPB have had at least one more child since they went on the benefit.

Marriage Murder

>

Yet each man kills the thing he loves,

By each let this be heard,

Some do it with a bitter look,

Some with a flattering word.

The coward does it with a kiss,

The brave man with a sword.

Some kill their love when they are young,

And some when they are old;

Some strangle with the hands of lust,

Some with the hands of gold,

The kindest use a knife, because

The dead so soon grow old.

Some love too little, some too long,

Some sell and others buy;

Some do the deed with many tears,

And some without a sigh:

For each man kills the thing he loves,

Yet each man does not die.

—Oscar Wilde

David Farrar: Kids on the DPB

Valid discussion about abuse of the DPB. However, how many beneficiaries are taking advantage of the taxpayer and the system and how many are genuine and in dire straits with no sign of a break.?

In my situation I work one day a week to maintain my midwifery registration and give my children much needed attention following my marriage separation. My budget had a $173 fortnightly shortfall which today jumped to $234 in the red every fortnight following the reduction of my special benefit. How have I survived so far? I have had one food grant, advances to pay my power bill before disconnection which are repayable. I have survived on the generosity of family and friends who have paid for groceries and odd bits for the kids. I juggle between my money between bills each week and pray that the kids don’t get sick and my car keeps running. I do maintain my one luxury which is my internet access which I balance out with the fees from my reseller hosting clients so my hobby pays for itself.

Am I taking advantage? Definitely not. I do not intend to have any unsupported and unplanned pregnancies and my perspective of women on the DPB changed dramatically when I was thrown into this situation. I am under budget advice and my budget is pared down to the absolute basics. My husband helps where he can, but has been through a few jobs with variable income as well as his own expenses. He pays for clothes for the children and has recently assisted with some petrol costs (otherwise it is a long drive for him to collect the kids). I could work full-time and will be working with my budget advisor tomorrow to see if this is a viable option. I would have to balance childcare costs against the income a midwife can earn and the family effects of doing shift work. Possible options are training for teaching or doing my Master’s so I can move into lecturing and then I will have kid-friendly working hours, but no immediate fix in sight. I admire the independent midwives who are single mothers because this is not something I am able to do at this stage with young children.

Birth Month

My Birth Month. Sounds pretty close:

FEBRUARY:

Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Intelligent and clever. Changing personality. Attractive. Sexy. Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. Loves aggressiveness. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Dislike unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Realising dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions.

Condensed to the Max

As my first experience of television journalism, I knew it would be abbreviated, but had no idea that 20 minutes of interview would end up shrinking so much to being part of a 4 minute segment. However, I will say that I was pleased with how it all came out and that I felt I didn’t end up looking and sounding like an idiot . I thought I would include a link to Deborah Hill Cone’s blog.

On TV

I have been advised the blogging segment will air on Breakfast on TV1 on Monday 9 August at 8:20am. Now I am nervous again about how the story will be presented and the angle being taken, but I am excited as well.

The Universe Is Telling Me Something

This quote in my email today. The universe is trying to tell me something?

> Have patience as one who fears no failure, courts no success. Fix thy Soul’s gaze upon the star whose ray thou art, the flaming star that shines within the light less depths of ever-being, the boundless fields of the Unknown.

H. P. Blavatsky (1831-1891)

Broken Angel

Your wings are BROKEN and tattered. You are an angelic spirit who has fallen from grace for one reason or another - possibly, you made one tragic mistake that cost you everything. Or maybe you were blamed for a crime you didn’t commit. In any case, you are faithless and joyless. You find no happiness, love, or acceptance in your love or in yourself. Most days are a burden and you wonder when the hurting will end. Sweet, beautiful and sorrowful, you paint a tragic and touching picture. You are the one that few understand. Those that do know you are likely to love you deeply and wish that they could do something to ease your pain. You are constantly living in memories of better times and a better world. You are hard on yourself and self-critical or self-loathing. Feeling rejected and unloved, you are sensitive, caring, deep, and despite your tainted nature, your soul is breathtakingly beautiful.

No drinking water until Monday at the earliest and we have to conserve the rest for essentials, so no showers or laundry. Kids home from school until then too. Stress of further weather warning for today and the weekend.

Still in Emergency

No drinking water but at least we have electricity. The roads are clear so I can work my night shifts, but the kids are home from school until the water supply is back. Weather warning for the next few days and weekend is for more rain and gusty winds.
